Janne Korpi burst into the international snowboarding scene in the 2005/2006 season when he was able to win himself his first big TTR podium spot at the Burton European Open in January 2006. Since then, the horse enthusiast has managed to get himself a well one of the big names in competitive snowboarding.
Janne was born into a family totally being hooked to horses. His dad, Pekka Korpi, is one of the most famous harness racers in Finland and Janne himself is pretty successful at harness racing, too. Janne also says his dad is his greatest influence. However, it’s not harness racing what most people think of when they hear the name Janne Korpi. Janne is one of the most successful Finnish snowboarders of the last decade. He’s been at the 2006 and 2010 Winter Olympics, and he’s been on several podiums of some of the biggest World Snowboard Tour events.
Janne looks up most to riders like Travis Rice, Kazu Kokubo or Scotty Lago, and two of his favorite shred partners are Peetu Piiroinen and Markku Koski. His favorite places to shred are Park City, Ruka and Serena, and his favorite trick is nothing less than a good ol’ cab 360.
When Janne is not busy being successful at snowboarding and harness racing, he’s just your regular dude. He likes to hang out with friends, he’s into sports like tennis, golf or football, and he’d really like to meet Willy Ferrell. Well, who doesn’t…
