Kelly Clark: 2014 Halfpipe World Snowboard Tour Champion – You are legend Kelly! (4th Champions Title now!!!)
Did you know Kelly Clark won more competitions than, say a Tiger Woods or Kelly Slater? It’s true. Kelly Clark is kind of the über-athlete of the last decade.
Kelly started snowboarding when she was seven, doing her first contest in 1999. She trained for competitive snowboarding at the Mount Snow Academy in Vancouver—and graduated in Spring 2001. One year earlier, she became a member of the US Snowboard Team. In 2002, Kelly was 18 back then, she attended at her first Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah where she promptly won her first Olympic gold medal. Since then, Kelly Clark is the benchmark when it comes to women’s Halfpipe snowboarding. She has won literally every single Halfpipe contest exisiting, got another Olympic medal (bronze) at the 2010 Games in Vancouver, and landed the first ever 1080 in women’s competition at the Winter X Games back in 2011.
In the 2012-2013 season, she got first at the 5 Star Burton High Fives, then she carried on with a gold medal at the Aspen X Games, followed by a second place the 6 Star Burton European Open, followed by a win at the 6 Star Burton US Open, and in the end she finished off with another gold medal at the X Games in Tignes. Needless to say she’s the current Overall Halfpipe World Snowboard Tour Champion.
Besides snowboarding, Kelly enjoys being outside and doing other sportive activities. Her residence is West Dover, and her biggest inspirations —snowboarding-wise at least—are Anne Molin Kongsaard and Nicola Thost.
In february 2014, at the 5th edition of olympic halfpipe snowboarding, Kelly took home the Olympic Bronze Medal. Congrats Kelly !
