Ty Walker may be just 18 years old, but there’s no denying that she’s already having a huge impact on women’s snowboarding. She started snowboarding when she was seven years old, joined her first team when she was eight, and started competing when she was nine. Since then, the young gun has managed to blow minds on snowboard events around the globe.
In 2009, for example, she got first at the slopestyle contest of the Burton European Junior Open. In 2010, Ty got her second win at the Burton European Junior Open and another first place at the Burton AM Series. Another year passed and the young lady from Stowe, Vermont won her third Burton European Junior Open, but this time not only the slopestyle competition but also the halfpipe contest; and on top of that, she also started to stir up the contest circuit of the „senior“ ladies. A third place at the 5 Star Canadian Open and a seventh place at the 6 Star Oakley Arctic Challenge was very remarkable for a rookie. Apart from that she is by now also a two-time winner of the USASA Championships, she won the U.S. Revolution Tour, and she got third at the Burton High Fives. Not too bad for a 18 year old gal, right?
Ty Walker’s favorite place to ride is Breckenridge, she mostly looks up to Kelly Clark and Jamie Anderson and her favorite place to visit and ride is Wanaka, New Zealand. Did we forget anything? Oh yeah, do yourself a massive favor and remember her name.
